Free qualified independent one to one person centred advocacy service supporting children and young people aged 5-18 to ensure their needs, rights and wishes are articulated to access and plan their individual needs.

We get stuck in with traditional scouting skills and gaining a wide variety of awards and badges. We also do loads of amazing activities, climbing, hiking, archery, pioneering, coasteering, caving, surfing and much more. We also become expert campers and learn to light and cook on fires and survive in the wild!

Sea Venturers is a chance for our young people to:

build confidence and resilience and life skills.
make new friends and feel part of the team.
learn cool new skills, navigation, morse code and more.

Support, advice and information on Personal Budgets

Free activities learn new skills, make new friends and join in activities.

Relate counsellors can help where people are having problems with their sex life due to physical or emotional reasons.

CBO is delivering activities to address both streams. We will be delivering the following;

Coffee Morning- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am- 11am.

We are a helpline to support people struggling with poor mental health. We support communities which are unable to get help due to stigmas and cultural barriers through a confidential helpline service.

New cycling programme to help people to learn to ride a bike. The aim is to improve mental and physical health through an enjoyable new cycling hobby within your local community social group.

We aim to work with residents in the most disadvantaged wards of Sandwell, mainly but not only from minority ethnic communities, who face multiple barriers to employment. We will support them to build confidence, access and move into education, training and employment

Squirrels is for young people aged 4-6 years old. Our Squirrel drey meets for one hour every week, these sessions are a brilliant opportunity for young people to take their first step on the journey through scouting and they’ll help everyone get ready for the adventure of school too.

Being a Badger
Badgers are the youngest St John people, aged under 11. Anyone can join a Badger Sett, which operate across England. Badgers usually meet once a week for around 1 hour 30 minutes.

Badgers take part in a wide range of fun activities based on essential first aid and other fascinating topics, earning badges and certificates for each one. For every three subjects a Badger completes, they receive an award until they achieve their Super Badger Award.

To give each new Badger the best possible introduction, Welcome Badger provides a range of activities to ensure all new Badgers and their parents/carers are provided with all the essentials in the first few important weeks.

Our Badger programme covers a wide range of subjects and activities, from first aid to communication skills, to healthy living and being safe. All the subjects have been written by St John people with the aim of Badgers in mind and to support children through their learning and development journey.

Badgers can:

learn first aid
make new friends
get creative with arts and crafts
find out how the body works and how to stay healthy
learn about helping their local community
take part in team games
develop leadership and communication skills, and much more!

A councillor’s primary role is to represent their ward or division and the people who live in it. Councillors provide a bridge between the community and the council. As well as being an advocate for local residents and signposting them to the right people at the council, you will need to keep them informed about the issues that affect them.

In order to understand and represent local views and priorities, they need to build strong relationships and encourage local people to make their views known and engage with them and the Council. Good communication and engagement are central to being an effective councillor.

To do this they have regular contact with the general public through either Council meetings, telephone calls or surgeries. Surgeries provide an opportunity for any ward resident to go and talk their councillor face to face and these take place on a regular basis.

Your Councillor will discuss any concerns or problems relating to Council services and listen to your views on issues that you feel are important.

Councillors are not paid a salary for their work, but they do receive allowances. By law, all members of the Council are required to complete a Declaration of Interest form, the details of which are published annually.
