We refer carers to Sandwell Enquiry for a Carers Assessment as they maybe entitled to a Carers Direct Budget, if they meet Adult Services criteria they will receive a small amount of money that can either pay for a respite care or befriending service which will give them a break from their caring responsibilities and can pursue any interests and hobbies or just meet friends knowing that their loved one is being cared for and supported.
In terms of benchmarking quality, the WBACRC service has achieved ISO 9001 Quality Mark, this is an International and national quality assurance award which demonstrates that we have robust governance and quality systems and procedures in place with our service.
If carers do not meet Adult service eligibility criteria, they can always purchase our service privately as a self funder.

Harassment and discrimination support to individuals in Sandwell who have experienced discrimination or harassment.

We support individuals with long term conditions or continuing care needs to participate in activities that support their health and well being. Activities include arts and crafts bible study (optional), bingo, music workshops and extend gentle exercise classes. We organise exchange visits across the country and an annual holiday . People who use our services have a hot nutritious meal and participate in health workshops, information sessions and other projects. We also provide advice and guidance and in some situation provide advocacy to enable participants to access services that will support their health and well being. Costs are competitive and transport is provided via community transport or ring and ride. This service is particularly suitable to older people of African and Caribbean origin however we do have individuals from other cultural groups access our service.

The Sapphire Service is here to support you.
The Sapphire Service is jointly delivered by the West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre in partnership with Agewell CIC. In terms of benchmarking quality, the WBACRC service has achieved ISO 9001 Quality Mark, this is an International and national quality assurance award which demonstrates that we have robust governance and quality systems and procedures in place with our service.
In partnership with the hospital Trust staff, Sapphire aims to:
• Improve the hospital experience for older adults and their carers
• Befriend patients and support with eating and hydration if required
• Identify any barriers to getting you back home as soon as possible
• Support and Advocate for patients in the discharge planning process to reduce readmissions
• Provide support in those early days back at home
• Signpost and help older Adults and carers to access community services in their local area that can improve their quality of life
We understand how overwhelming it can feel to be in hospital and the strain it can put on families and their carers, the Sapphire Service is here to help.
