We organise events to celebrate cultural diversity and engage local people in the planning and implementation.

Nowka Bais

One of the key events we lead on is the Nowka Bais. The Nowka Bais (Bangladeshi Style Boat Race) was first held in Birmingham at Edgbaston Reservoir in 2015 and proved to be extremely popular; we built on this and held another two very successful event in 2016 and 2017, attracting teams from across Birmingham and the country. The events were also a great day out for local families, with stalls and a wide range of activities, including free sailing taster sessions throughout the day. The event in July 2017 was attended by over 20,000 people from all over the country and has become one of the main events in the country celebrating Bangladeshi heritage and culture.

Employment Master Class

We work with a wide range of partners and employers to raise awareness of the opportunities that are available. These sessions are designed to inspire attendees and provide practical tips that will help participants to develop pathways into some of the city’s leading growth sectors such as Accountancy.

In addition we also organise a variety of open days focusing on different areas such as health, community issues and celebrating diversity.
