Tinnitus is the name given to any kind of noise heard in the ears or head. The noise heard by an individual is different from person to person and the impact on an individual varies also. How and why people suffer with tinnitus is not known but it is thought that nearly always it is related to damage to an individual’s hearing, whether this is by exposure to loud noise, infections, genetic disorders or just general wear and tear.
We offer help to tinnitus sufferers by providing information, advice and support, through meetings, newsletters and support literature, from trained volunteers, who all have experience of tinnitus.
Those living within Birmingham and the surrounding areas are able to join a well-established support group who meet regularly to discuss ideas on how best to cope with tinnitus. As well as the drop in sessions which take place at a local venue, we also provide confidential telephone support by key members of the group, which gives people another avenue for confidential, mutual support.
