Our ESOL classes are aimed to improve English, in terms of speaking, reading, and writing. The level of the classes are Pre-Entry and Entry Level 1. The course content includes:
1) Initial Assessment
2) Getting to know each other/Contact Details
3) Topics:
• All About Me
• Daily Life
• Out and About
• Shopping – local markets/supermarkets
• Where I live – getting the bus/trains
• Accessing Local Services – Job Centre, library, post office & emergency services
• Healthcare – GP, health checks, dentist and awareness of health issues
• Technology in our lives
• Me and my child’s education – talking to teachers at schools, colleges etc.
• Things I want to do
• Employability – job interviews, applying for jobs, phone calls and speaking at work
4) Short Assessments
5) Extra learning such as Local Courses/Applying for a course
The Pre-Entry classes take place on Mondays and Thursdays, from 9:15am-11:15am; and the Entry Level 1 classes take place on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 9:15am-11:15am.
