Soho Victoria Friends and Neighbours will support residents to:
-Access information, advice and advocacy- especially in relation to issues of saving money and looking at practical solutions to any debt, as well as looking at food or household basics and money management.
-Work with residents to apply the benefits.
-Encourage them to share information, knowledge and support to and with each other. E.g., attend an Esol session, attend a new craft session together; take each other to hospital appointments.
-Learn new everyday skills e.g., completing on line forms; using the internet to access cheaper deals; how to report anti-social behaviour via SMBC “My Sandwell” site; or dealing with day-to-day matters such as post, bills and new technology.
-Enable residents to share their skills with others e.g., young families with debt under pressure and encourage mutual support across the generations.
-Create links, trust and connections with NEET 16- to 24-year-olds to gain confidence to access tailored and relevant information for, local employment, training opportunities and other young people support avenues.
-To create friendships and neighbourliness to increase mental health and well-being.
